What’s for Thanksgiving dinner? Mrs. Vanessa Johnson’s first graders are graphing their favorite Thanksgiving foods. They voted on turkey, ham, veggies, pie or stuffing. The students took their results and made a graph. They discussed which food had the most and least votes. They compared how much more and less between foods. Such a fun way to learn‼️

The 2022 BCSD Veteran's Day program was hosted by Bacon Primary. A heartfelt Veteran's Day tribute was sang by second graders. It was an honor to be in the presence of those who served and fought for our freedom! HAPPY VETERAN'S DAY‼️

Bacon Primary nutrition staff prepared an amazing Thanksgiving lunch for students and BC BOE members yesterday. It was a wonderful time filled with lots of smiling faces. We are thankful for our board members, who took the time out of their day to enjoy lunch with our students because they genuinely care for them. We are thankful for the parents who loan us their children each day knowing they're in the best of care. We are thankful for everyone who continues to make us #BCStrong!

Students in Ms. Bennett’s Social Studies class completed an “Iron Chef” activity where they identified the “ingredients” (the boll weevil, drought, and economic factors) that impacted Georgia during the Great Depression. Each group then presented their findings to the class to practice their public speaking skills. Students also learned about the Great Depression’s impact on Bacon County and the rural areas of Georgia.

BCES is in their second year of the "One Million Words" campaign. Did you know that reading an extra 10 minutes per day can help students be proficient readers by learning new vocabulary, which makes them academically more successful?
BCES encourages reading at home because we want students to "Read to Lead". These students were recognized for reading the most words during the month of October. Great job BCES Raiders‼️

At BCSD we take pride in having outstanding leaders‼️ During the BOE October board meeting, our principals were presented with an accreditation certificate for their school by the Georgia Accreditation Commission, ALL BCSD schools being accredited with quality!

Bacon County FCCLA is so proud of their new chapter members for their amazing competition pieces for FCCLA Fall Leadership Conference- Pen It. Print It. Present It. Chapter members became an author, illustrator and narrated their own unique storybook for a Pre-K-2nd Grade classroom.

PBIS encourages students to walk the Raider Way. The "Raider Way" is to be ready, respectful, and responsible.

Bacon County FCCLA attended FCCLA Fall Leadership Conference at Camp John Hope. Georgia FCCLA members had the opportunity to explore leadership skills, network with other members, and compete in a variety of events. Leadership sessions were given to help motivate members with ideas to take back to their chapters, as well as team-building activities to strengthen the bonds between chapter members!

BCHS FFA hosted the Satilla EMC wiring practice to all surrounding high schools planning to participate in the wiring contest held at BCHS later next month. The BCHS FFA chapter had both Kurt Adams and Eli Griffin attend the wiring practice along with Mr. Mike Slice and Mr. JR Miles. A total of ten counties attended the wiring practice and we can’t wait to see the amazing work these young adults accomplish during the wiring contest next month! The Bacon County High School FFA would like to thank all the counties that attended along with Mr. Andy Varnadoe and Crystal Gill of Satilla REMC and Mr. Jerry Stone who is the South Region Agricultural Education Mechanics teacher for helping make this event a success!
