On November 5, 2024, the Georgia Department of Education awarded BCHS the Math Leader Award for its phenomenal growth on the 2024 Algebra GMAS

Recognizing the fundamental importance of mathematics in students' educations and future careers, the Georgia Department of Education is recognizing schools with exceptional achievement or growth in mathematics as Math Leaders. “Congratulations to our first-ever Math Leader schools!”, said State Superintendent, Richard Woods. “These schools and their educators, students, families, and communities have worked hard to implement the new K-12 Mathematics Standards and prepare all students for life. The skill of numeracy is an essential one, both as students progress through their K-12 education and in their futures. I commend them on their outstanding work."

Students at Bacon Primary recently had special visitors!
Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, and Macho Man stop by to encourage students to become champion READers. They challenged first and second-grade students with a READing competition. The class with the most AR points in a month gets to sport the READing title belt.
At the end of each month, BCPS will have a "READing Rumble"! The READing champions for October were Mrs. Julie Brown's first-grade class and Mrs. Melanie Williams's second-grade class. Way to go team BCPS‼ We are so BC Proud that you've gone the extra mile to encourage a love for reading for your students‼

BCHS Varsity Lady Raiders Softball, players and coaches were recognized for their achievements, at the November monthly Board of Education meeting. Congratulations to all on their third consecutive year named Region Champs!

The Bacon County High School, Future Farmers of America, FFA chapter proudly braved rainstorms this week to represent our community well at the Okefenokee National Fair, in Waycross. Their hard work and dedication paid off with a 4th place finish in Tree Identification. BCHS FFA Ag Tool ID team shined, earning an impressive 3rd place in their competition. Determined, students applied their knowledge and received great end results.

The Thanksgiving Holiday is rapidly approaching. BCSD will dismiss on November 22, 2024, and return to school on December 1, 2024.

BCSD not only has bright scholars, but they're well-mannered, and always eager to help, as well! Congratulation to the Bacon County Elementary School, 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students who were named "RAIDER KIDS" for their 1st,- 9 weeks of school‼ We are excited to see so many students display they are "Ready", "Respectful", and "Responsible" even when they think no one is watching!
