BCHS third-level, Healthcare Science students were given the opportunity to tour Bacon County Hospital and Health System. Throughout this tour, BC Hospital's Kerry McLaughlin, along with other department directors, shared valuable information with students that gave them a visual of the real-life workforce. Students also learned of the career possibilities available to them, locally, at Bacon County Hospital and Health System. Great things are happening! Bacon County Middle School students were paid a visit by John Kennedy, one of our local Game Wardens.
Kennedy spoke with middle school students to inform each of them, who are now at the age to receive a hunting license or will be soon, aware of what they should and should not do in a situation that is not uncommon for hunters to face. Mr. Kennedy stressed to them the importance of safety. He made his appearance right before the official opening of deer hunting season. This was such an awesome learning experience and we are grateful for all who made this possible!

Bacon Primary hosted its first Scholastic book fair of the year, during the month of October. Parents and family members were welcomed into the Media Center to share in this experience, and to encourage their child to read things that interest them most. "The students truly love shopping for their very own books," Mrs. Southerland shared. Pictured is one of the many family members who visited the BCPS book fair; Kinsley Thompson and her mom, Teesa. We are extremely proud of the amazing parents and family members our students receive constant encouragement and support from each day. Thank you all!

Did you know that BCES teachers use different strategies to form their small groups such as tickets out of the door, checkpoints on classwork, and many other tools to be sure that the students are getting all the support needed to be successful? Small group instruction is data-driven proof to support individualized instruction.

FCCLA competes at the Georgia National Fair Fall Rally. FCCLA Chapter Member, Elizabeth Waters won 1st place in the FCCLA Annual Georgia Peanut Recipe Contest with her Maddie’s Peanut Butter and Jelly Cookie. Chapter Member, Jailyn Varnedore placed 3rd in FCCLA Individual-Themed Speech Competition.Chapter Members, Savanna Taylor and Sanaa Parker placed 1st in the FCCLA Brochure Competition. They competed in the National Programs/State Programs Class. They also had the overall highest score in all 4 classes of the competition of brochures.

Georgia Middle and High school students are given the opportunity each year to compete in a large variety of competitive events at the regional, state, and national levels. Competitions are based on each individual club's skills they practice throughout each school year. GNF Fall Rallies are a way to kick off the year and encourage students to be involved and get excited about what is in store for them. Those who attended and took part from the Bacon County School District in October 2023 were the following:
BCHS TSA, BCMS FFA, BCHS HOSA, BCHS FFA, and BCHS FCCLA.
