Bacon County Board of Education FY24 Tentative Budget

This week we celebrate our Mental Health Counselors! These ladies are a phenomenal asset within our schools. Their positivity is contagious, and our students adore and confide in them. Thank you both for all that you do! YOU ARE APPRECIATED!

From a scraped knee at recess, to administering medications and following proper procedures for BC students who need routine care; We simply could not make it through each day without our amazing school nurses‼️

May 5, 2023 BCSD celebrates School Lunch Hero Day! This is the day we recognize our hard working ladies and gentlemen who prepare our students and staff with not only healthy, balanced meals, but so eagerly care for each of them as if they're family. Please join us as we extend our gratitude to our "SCHOOL LUNCH HEROES" for their dedication and long hours of planning, preparing, and serving. Thank you all for greeting each student with a smile and caring for them as if they were your own. YOU ARE APPRECIATED!!

BCES Georgia Milestones testing begins on May 2nd. Mrs. Catherine Cox, 3rd grade teacher, read her classes a story "Hooray for Diffendoofer Day!" by Dr. Seuss, to help her students stay calm and rest assured that they are prepared and have the tools they need to be successful! The story celebrates the uniqueness of young students in school, and tells a story of how teachers prepare their students all year giving them skills and strategies to do their best. On test day the students begin with a feeling of sadness and worry, but as they start the test they realize their teacher was right, they were prepared! The students loved the story!

BCES 3rd grade students visited "Destination Ag" in Tifton Georgia. While there they participated in hands-on activities in Georgia and Productive Resources that are linked to Science and Social Studies standards in 3rd grade. Actively and Physically taking part while learning changes things! So much fun for BCES 3rd graders!

BCES exceptional classes visited the Jacksonville Zoo and Bitty and Beau's Coffee Shop, on Wednesday, April 26th. Mr. Callahan and Ms. Yearty's class enjoyed learning about various animal kingdoms, visiting the Dinosauria, and riding the train and carousel. They topped off their afternoon with delicious smoothies and frappes from Bitty and Beau's.

Bacon County Middle School Athletics was selected for one of two awards that were up for grabs by the ten talented schools within our conference.
