BCHS Education Pathway practices Selfcare
Students in the Education Pathway also get to experience FCCLA because it is intra-curricular. Through this intra-curricular lesson, students learned about the FCCLA National Program, Student Body. The Student Body Program helps students learn to make informed, responsible choices for their physical and mental health. Student Body has four different units; The Healthy You, The Fit You, The Real You, and The Resilient You. Heidi Taylor, Registered, Licensed Dietician, shared important information about nutrition for teens as well as about her career for The Healthy You unit. Alison Lee, BCHS Instructional Coach came to share her knowledge of yoga and a method of meditation for clearing our minds. The Real You and The Resilient You was covered with the help from BCHS Counseling Department (Selina
Copeland & Amanda Williams). They spoke about how we should only focus on the things we can control and not the things out of our control. Mrs. Jessica Johnson & FCCLA chapter officer, Taylor Pritchett also taught about positive affirmations and presented the S.L.I.M.E. Method by John Spencer. With this presentation students were challenged and able to learn about starting something new, letting go of something, improving and taking something they do to the next level, maintain something for the year and then experiment with something new. To wrap up the program, students made slime and talked about how making slime can be an activity for emotional and mental health.
