We are extremely excited to welcome each of you back on Wednesday‼️ New year, same OUTSTANDING students‼️

December 12th, BCHS Cross Country Raiders and Lady Raiders were recognized at the BC Board of Education, December monthly meeting. This was the first year in BC history both teams advanced to state competition. Congratulations to these outstanding athletes as well as Coach Alison Lee, who lead them to success.

Kaycedar Fairley from District 2 was recognized by fellow board members and superintendent of schools for her years of service on the Board of Education. She has successfully served the students and employees of Bacon County for 8 years. Her leadership and dedication to our district has had a positive impact on our community.

The Bacon Middle FFA Environmental Natural Resource (ENR) team recently placed 9th out of 12 teams at the State finals held at ABAC. The purpose of the Environmental/Natural Resources CDE is to acquaint students with the different areas of the Natural Resources that are found throughout the State and to obtain skills in that area. The team had to complete a GPS activity, identify 50 items connected to plants, animals, and tools and, and complete a team activity of 50 questions. Hunter Hutto was also the 16th high individual . Special thanks to Mr. Mike Slice who helped the team prepare.

BCHS Environmental Engineering students were challenged to research and answer specific questions about their selected habits that Environmental Engineers would deal with. For example, they would determine what makes the habitat successful and what would make the habitat struggle to survive. The final project was to create a 3D model of their chosen habitat (Rain Forest, Ocean, Tundra, Forest, Grassland, or Desert).

On December 3rd, eight incredibly talented BCMS students auditioned in front of a panel of Middle School Band Directors for Honor Band. Honor Band consists of middle school students from Valdosta to the coast. These students are selected based upon their audition scores. Hundreds of student musicians were in the running and BCMS was honored to have two of the finest selected! Outstanding job by our Raider Regiment team!!

Mr. Miles’ Ag Mechanics class is learning how to use a premade diagram to cut and arrange Christmas themed characters‼️ Such a fun way to enhance your skills!

The Bacon Middle FFA recently toured the Georgia Agricultural Museum in Tifton with over 40 members and chaperones. The members toured an old church and sat in the seats in an old one-room schoolhouse and heard from a guide about a typical day for students in the 1900s.They saw many tractors that had been invented over the last century and actually made grits at the grist mill. An old cane mill was on display and members were taught how syrup is made. Many other farm inventions, farm houses and animals were a part of the educational day.
