Mr. Michael Todd, Assistant Chief of Bacon County Fire/EMS, visited Ms. Christi Medders’ Healthcare/Science Class, September 22, to discuss with BCHS students the importance of Fire Safety.

On Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022, TSA (technology student association) Advisor, Mr. Brent Johnson led the first after school meeting with a focus on competitive events for the upcoming Perry Fair.

Madi Norris, Trinity Bennett, & Tabitha Bennett are three of many BCHS ninth grade students who took part in their very first FCCLA club meeting. FCCLA or Future Community and Career Leaders of America, is led by FCCLA Advisor, Jessica Johnson and has increased numbers dramatically from 13 to 48 members for the 2022-23 school year!

BCHS students in Mr. Slice’s Basic Agriculture Class, have found a new way to learn. Students use mini microscopes they connect to their cell phones. This allows students to identify and differentiate between very similar organisms that could have easily been confused during plant identification.

Each month, BCHS teachers select students to participate in the BCHS Raider Way Career Visit where students visit local businesses and industries to gain insight into careers available locally after high school. For the month of September, students visited Industrial Forge. BCHS students toured the facility, saw different operations and stages of the manufacturing process, and discussed traits and skills needed to obtain a job at Industrial Forge.

BCHS 11th grader, Austin Smith competed in the FFA Tractor and Machinery Operations CDE at Coffee County Middle School on September 22, 2022. This competition consisted of tractor driving through a course( using their knowledge of safety equipment and features such as maintenance of the machine), problem solving, and a multiple choice test. Austin did a great job representing BCHS FFA and finished 6th out of 18 participants.
