Bacon County Primary students are rewarded each month for excelling in Accelerated Reader. Addox Hollingsworth, Kinsley Merritt, Kash Williams, Kambri Vaughn, & Addie Williams were the top five AR second grade students for the month of August.

Raider Regiment Band hosted Alumni Night this past Friday. Alumni, Band Members, and Directors stood tall during the down pour of rain to cheer the Raiders to their first victory of the season!

The Environmental/Natural Resources CDE is a four-person event. It is designed to develop an understanding of our state’s natural resources while allowing students to explore and prepare for possible careers in Natural Resources and Environmental Science.
Bacon County Middle/High FFA students are preparing for the general wildlife identification portion of the ENR by identifying wildlife using various characteristics such as skin, skulls, tracks, and other anatomical features. They will also traverse a GPS course identifying many native tree species and complete a team exam activity during the contest.

Mr. Slice’s Forestry students practice their Team Building Activity “ Flipping the Chain”. Students form a circle locking hands together and must turn from facing inward to facing outward without crossing the arms or letting go. They flip the chain from inward to outward. This activity instills the importance of teamwork and unity.

Friday, September 9, BCPS celebrated an early Grandparents Day by allowing Pre-K students to invite their grandparents to school for a celebratory "Grits for Grandparents" Day‼️

Bacon County FCCLA Chapter President and State VP of Community Service, Mia Carver presented at the Alma-Bacon County Chamber of Commerce, Wake Up with Bacon Business Meeting at Pineland Bank. She shared how the support of the community for Bacon County FCCLA is helping prepare leaders for the future of Alma-Bacon County.

The Bacon County High School and Middle School Agricultural Education department attended the Fall South Region Agricultural Educators meeting at Ware County High School on September 1, 2022. The four agricultural educators attending the meeting were Mr. Edmund Thrift, Mr. Jimmy Scott, Mr. JR Miles and Mr. Mike Slice. Topics discussed during the meeting ranged from upcoming FFA and Young Farmer events to local community engagement opportunities. All four Ag educators/FFA advisors brought back valuable information for BCSD students in hopes to build upon the established agricultural community that we currently have here in Bacon County.

Bacon County Elementary School is not only recognizing students with perfect attendance, but has begun acknowledge faculty who have not missed any days during the prior month. We are grateful for our staff and the hard work and dedication that they contribute to our school district daily!

August 30,2022 Coastal Pines Technical Collage, Nurse Aide Coordinator, Theresa Henry, visited Ms. Christi Medders' Healthcare/Science class, to speak and inform students of all Healthcare Opportunities. There are so many excellent opportunities in our community & at BCSD!
