September 19, 2023, is National IT Professionals Day. Bacon County School District is extremely fortunate to have two exceptional IT Professionals on staff. We would like to express our gratitude to Mrs. Kayla Durance and Mr. River Helton for the outstanding job that they do to keep our technology running smoothly for our students and staff.

Today, Bacon County High School welcomed the inaugural mobile welding classroom provided by Coastal Pines Tech College, allowing our students to obtain dual-enrolled credits while receiving multiple welding certifications. This mobile welding trailer enhances BCHS Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, providing valuable hands-on experiences to students, and broadening their exposure to the field of welding and metalworking‼

BCES teachers, Mr. Callahan and Miss Yearty had the privilege of visiting our local Food Lion, with their students, for a Community-Based Instructional outing. Students gained valuable knowledge of what many are tasked with daily. Each of them now has the knowledge needed to locate and purchase selected items.
Throughout the school year, the students will visit local and area businesses and organizations. This allows the students to practice life and social skills.

A homogeneous mixture has the same uniform appearance and composition throughout. Many homogeneous mixtures are commonly referred to as solutions. A heterogeneous mixture consists of visibly different substances or phases.
At BCMS, eighth-grade students in Mrs. Strickland's Science class have been actively engaging in their lesson on homogenous and heterogenous mixtures‼ Great job guys‼

Bacon County Red Raider Regiment Band hosted their first ever, JumpStart Night, on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. BCMS Band Director Renee Garman, who is new to BCSD this year, shared that this event was designed to provide sixth-grade students who are new to the Fine Arts program, a "jumpstart" in learning and growing as a young musician.
During this event, The top BCHS students who are more "in tune" with their instruments, assisted beginners. Thorough discussions were held and any uncertainty they may have had was resolved as they all harmonized together in small groups.
There was an outstanding turnout to an amazing night filled with learning and growing as a team.
New and enjoyable ways for our students to learn is something worth getting excited about! Thank you to all who took part in making this night a success!

Did you know? Magnetic fields can produce electricity because moving magnetic fields can pull or push electrons. Fifth-grade students at Bacon Elementary recently began studying magnets and evaluating information about magnetism and its relationship to electricity‼

After studying percussion instruments from different parts of Africa, Bacon Primary second-grade students were tasked with creating a drum of their very own. What a fun way to learn and be informed during Mrs. White's music class!
